How the emergency alert actually works
Pressing the emergency button sends an immediate alert to every user on that channel. Anyone viewing a live map, meaning dispatch console users and anyone running the mobile app, also sees the sender pinned by unit name. Handheld radio users receive the alert itself but do not have a map to view. The alert tells your own people that someone needs help so they can respond or escalate. It does not dial 911, contact a public safety answering point, or dispatch emergency responders. Keep independent access to 911 for that.
